Ten One Blockhead Macbook Charger review
Today we’re reviewing the Ten One Blockhead charger for Macbooks. This is one of the most clever add-ons to Apple products that I’ve seen over the years.
The problem that the nice folks at Ten One are solving is a real one – the weight of the charger sits away from the wall outlet, making not only for a ugly sight, it can also get in the way when your outlet is behind a couch or a shelf. And personally I’ve had problems when using a splitter in my outlet, so that the charger keeps dropping out of it because of its own weight and added distance from the wall.
The issue was made worse by Apple’s decision to stop including the extra power adapter extension cable that used to come with every Macbook. This would have allowed to just place the charger block on your desk, but not anymore.
You can still buy the extension cable from Apple separately, but the price is almost identical to the Blockhead. We opted for the Blockhead and couldn’t have been happier with the choice so far.
The Blockhead solves both of these issues very elegantly and is instantly recognisable by it’s blue design that nicely offsets the original white charger block.
Currently selling at around 20 USD at Amazon, the prize seems very reasonable. Specifically when you consider the fact that Macbook chargers haven’t changed since the original Macbook came out in 2006. This means you can use it on all your Macbooks without worrying. And the durable ABS shell should make sure that it’s close to indestructible.
So if you are going to buy only one Apple accessory this year, let it be the Ten One Blockhead. It can also make for a nice little gift for your Apple fan friends.
